The Finances - we’re a non profit Association

We are a registered non profit Association here in France, totally self funding. Our crafters from all age groups and walks of life include retired and those in pressured careers that find crafting therapeutic, busy mums, our one man, is a stay at home dad, one lady who suffered a minor stroke using this as her therapy to get coordination back, we have carers for children with special needs, carers for elderly, ex teachers, lawyers, business owners and I think even the WI maybe involved too!

Everyone has contributed their yarn, their hours and creativity along with costs for posting things, collecting their empty boxes in readiness for shipping to France. We’ve developed a network of drop off points along with 2nd home owner's travelling across to France that has some room in the car to bring it over…however the time is starting to loom - we need money - unfortunately we need quite a bit!

What do we need?

Because we haven’t a permanent home yet we will be on tour for a while…we start off in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Carentan from 28th May to 1st September 2024 and are in talks with a very large museum for the next showing, we need to be able to move and store the work from time to time.

Plus we have discovered the work is incredibly tactile and it is going to be impossible to man the Cathedral 14 to 16 hours a day while it is there.

Our list of needs:

plywood 80 meters in 100 x 75cm lengths

printing of the information books

Framing for Embroidered panels with names of makers

we’d like to get some T Shirts and postcards printed to sell too.

Tea and Biscuits for all the helpers coming over in May to put the whole thing together!

BUT!! Because of the road trip round England and USA Travel boxes for each panel is imperative!

We are registered and in the official French governmental programmes and official events for 80th Anniversary which also spills into The Olympics… (the flame comes through this town).

Over a million people are expected into the region for 6th June week, at least 16 heads of State. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we have thousands come to see the work!

To sponsor a panel it’s minimum £500 with sky the limit!
